![]() Through engaging in these sessions, the class used their mathematical thinking, creativity and created a strong sense of whānaungatanaga. The children also learnt about our native plants and wildlife and how to protect these. They learnt all the skills needed to embark on the adventure including navigation, camp cooking and bush survival skills. Over the course of term 2, the outdoor option class prepared themselves for a three-day tramp at Mount Sommers. They learnt to surf, cleaned up beaches, learnt about the environment and erosion, and many other activities. ![]() In term 1, the children did a beach focus. From 9am to 10:30am they do literacy and maths. ![]() In the outdoor programme, the children go offsite three days a week from 11am to 3pm.
